Pickleball comes up in almost every relocation conversation I have now, usually somewhere between "how far is the beach" and "where do I buy groceries." It is a fair question, because court access varies a lot across Brevard County. Some towns have two dozen dedicated courts and a pro shop. Others have a gym floor with tape lines and a Tuesday night window.

Here is what actually exists on the Space Coast right now, pulled from the cities and from Brevard County Parks and Recreation, so you can pick a town knowing what you are getting.

Melbourne has the biggest pickleball complex on the Space Coast

The City of Melbourne lists 24 dedicated outdoor pickleball courts at the Jimmy Moore Pickleball Complex, 2810 Sarno Road. Play is $3 per person before 4 p.m. and $4 per person from 4 to 9 p.m. If you play often, the city sells an outdoor pass at $90 for residents and $108 for non-residents.

Melbourne also runs indoor pickleball in three community center gyms at $3 per person: the Wickham Park Community Center on Leisure Way, the Eau Gallie Civic Center on Highland Avenue, and the Joseph N. Davis Community Center on Bruce D. Buggs Street. An indoor pass is $65 for residents and $78 for non-residents, and a Super Pass covering both is $90 and $108.

Worth noting for anyone who reads older guides: the Fee Avenue Tennis Complex in Melbourne is tennis only, with 11 hard courts and 4 clay. It is not a pickleball venue.

What are the Brevard County public pickleball courts?

Brevard County Parks and Recreation maintains a countywide pickleball and tennis directory, and none of these county courts carry a posted use fee. Here is the inventory across Merritt Island, Viera and Rockledge.

Merritt Island is the surprise winner here. Between Kiwanis Island Park, the two community center gyms, Mitchell Ellington, Kelly Park West and Woody Simpson, Merritt Island has more free public pickleball access than any other town in Brevard County. The county's own directory notes that Kiwanis Island's tennis courts are no longer lined for pickleball, since the four dedicated courts now stand on their own. Pickleball in Viera and Suntree

Viera Regional Park at 2300 Judge Fran Jamieson Way is the public anchor, with four lighted outdoor courts open dawn to dusk and reservations available from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The 18,000 square foot Viera Regional Community Center in the same park runs four indoor courts in the gymnasium, with drop-in windows on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Suntree has no public pickleball facility of its own. Rotary Park at Suntree has a playground, a pier and pavilions, but no courts. Suntree players default to Viera Regional Park or drive to Melbourne.

On the private side, Addison Village Club at 8150 Stadium Parkway in Viera has two dedicated pickleball courts with shaded benches, plus tennis courts 3 and 4 lined for pickleball with optional netting, plus an indoor gymnasium that supports pickleball. That amenity center is for Addison Village member residents only, which is exactly the kind of thing worth confirming before you write an offer in Viera.

Rockledge, Cocoa Beach and the beachside towns

Rockledge added the Frank T. Forester Recreation Center at 960 Cogswell Street, which opened November 8, 2024 at the McKnight Family Sports Complex. The gymnasium configures to as many as three indoor pickleball courts with daily open gym. Outdoors, McLarty Park has two lighted county courts.

Cocoa Beach runs scheduled indoor play at the Cocoa Beach Recreation Center, 321 Ramp Road, split into two skill tiers with beginner and intermediate clinics. The city sells punch cards that never expire at $30 for residents and $40 for non-residents. Center hours are Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., closed weekends. Ramp Road Park also has outdoor pickleball courts.

Satellite Beach offers pickleball in the gymnasium at the David R. Schechter Community Center on South Patrick Drive. The DeSoto Recreation Complex nearby is tennis and racquetball, not pickleball. Indialantic's town parks list no pickleball courts at all.

The biggest pickleball news on the Space Coast in 2026

Indian Harbour Beach is about to get its first public courts. The city's Algonquin Sports Complex Expansion includes four pickleball courts, two tennis courts, two basketball courts, a synthetic turf multi-purpose field, a playground, an eight-stall restroom building and a walking trail.

The city awarded the construction contract to Legacy Sports Surfacing on December 19, 2024 at a cost not to exceed $4,339,490.07, with roughly $2.1 million in federal grant money offsetting city costs. Work started in May 2025. As of the city's June 2026 update, grading, the retention system, court subsurface foundations and most fencing were complete, with the grand opening anticipated in early October 2026.
