The Children's Hunger Project packs weekend food packages for elementary school children in Brevard County who face food insecurity at home. As of the event, they were serving more than 5,000 local elementary students through civic partnerships and school programs across the county. Their goal is straightforward: make sure no child in our community goes hungry over the weekend when school meals are not available.

They host and sponsor a huge share of the big events that happen on Harrison Street, and if you want to understand Cocoa Village culture, grabbing a drink and a bite at the Village Idiot is a great place to start.

A lot of people move to the Space Coast for the beaches, the rocket launches, and the year round warm weather. Those things are all real. But if you spend a weekend here, you start to notice something else. There is a rhythm of small, community powered events that make Brevard County feel like a true neighborhood instead of just a place to live. Street parties in Cocoa Village, Friday Fest in Cocoa Beach, art walks in Eau Gallie, and weekend festivals out in Viera and Melbourne are happening almost every weekend somewhere in the county.

For buyers who are relocating from bigger metros, this is often the unexpected selling point. You can live five or ten minutes from the Indian River Lagoon or the Atlantic Ocean and still walk into a block party where the bartender knows your name and the band is raising money for local kids.
