Owner Jason and his wife host these events throughout the year, and this 80s themed edition featured Hot Pink, widely regarded as one of the most popular cover bands in Brevard County if not the whole Space Coast. Think big wigs, neon, and a crowd that came ready to dance.
Hot pink wigs bobbing above the crowd, inflatable boom boxes, and a lead singer channeling everyone from Little Richard on up, it was a full on 80s throwback that pulled in a multi generational crowd. The sound spilled out from Harrison Street into every patio and open window along the block.
More Than a Party: Supporting The Children's Hunger Project
What makes these street parties different from your average night out is where the proceeds go. This event was a fundraiser for The Children's Hunger Project, a 501(c)(3) non-government funded nonprofit based in Brevard County. We chatted with Sabra Secure, the community outreach and volunteer coordinator, who explained the mission in simple terms: they pack weekend food packages for local elementary students who face food insecurity. As of this event, the organization is serving more than 5,000 elementary school students across Brevard County through civic programs and partner schools. Every burger, t-shirt, and donation collected at the street party helps feed a local kid through the weekend.
