Which Space Coast city has the most affordable homes right now?
Titusville has the lowest median home price on the Space Coast in 2025, with median sales typically in the $255,000 to $315,000 range. Palm Bay and Mims, FL also offer some of the most affordable single family homes in Brevard County.
Affordability is relative. Brevard County, Florida is more affordable than most of South Florida and almost all of the Northeast, but inside the Space Coast there is a real spread between cities. If you are watching the budget, three cities consistently come up: Titusville, Palm Bay, and Mims.
Here is how the affordable end of the Space Coast actually looks in 2025 and what to know before you focus your search there.
Titusville: North Brevard's affordability anchor
Titusville sits in North Brevard County, roughly 35 minutes north of Melbourne and adjacent to Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The median home price typically runs $255,000 to $315,000 based on the major home search portals city-level data.
What you get at the median in Titusville:
- 3 bedroom, 1,300 to 1,600 square foot single family home
- Built 1965 to 1995
- Larger lots than central or south Brevard
- Often no HOA

Palm Bay: South Brevard's affordable workhorse
Palm Bay is the largest city in Brevard County by land area and has the most affordable newer construction inventory on the Space Coast. Median home price typically runs $310,000 to $360,000.
What you get at the median in Palm Bay:
- 3 bedroom, 1,500 to 1,900 square foot home
- Mix of 1980s to 2020s construction, including significant new construction
- Quarter-acre lots common
- Lower property taxes per dollar of home value than beachside cities

Mims, FL: the underrated affordable option
Mims sits at the very northern edge of Brevard County. It is rural-leaning, with larger lots, occasional acreage, and prices below Titusville on a per-square-foot basis.
What you get at the median in Mims:
- 2 to 3 bedroom home on a larger lot
- Build years range widely, from 1970s to recent custom builds on acreage
- Septic and well common
- Median home prices often in the $250,000 to $315,000 range
Mims is the right answer for buyers who want space and quiet inside Brevard County, but it is a longer drive to beaches and central Brevard employers.

What to watch for at the affordable end of the Space Coast
Affordable on paper does not always mean affordable monthly. On older Space Coast homes, three line items matter more than the sale price:
- Roof age: Florida insurers price by roof age. Many carriers will not write a policy on a roof over 15 years old, or they price it punitively. Verify roof age on every Space Coast home.
- Insurance: Even mainland Brevard County homes can have meaningful homeowners insurance costs. Always get a quote in your due diligence period.
- Flood zone: Some inland Brevard County homes are still in flood zones. Pull the FEMA flood map for the property.

Yes, on a median basis Titusville is generally a touch cheaper than Palm Bay on the Space Coast, although Palm Bay has more newer construction inventory. Both are more affordable than central or beachside Brevard County.
Can you find homes under $300,000 on the Space Coast?
Yes, primarily in Titusville, Mims, and parts of Palm Bay and Cocoa. Inventory in this range is tighter than it used to be, and condition varies, so expect to compromise on size, age, or finishes.
Are property taxes lower in affordable Space Coast cities?
Effective tax rates are roughly similar across Brevard County, between 0.85 and 1.05 percent. Because the home prices are lower in Titusville and parts of Palm Bay, the actual dollar tax bill ends up smaller. Florida homestead exemption helps further for primary residents.
