Melbourne feels like a real city. You get a historic downtown along New Haven Avenue, a wide range of restaurants and shopping, medical centers, and quick access to US-1 and I-95. If you want options and you do not want to drive far for anything, Melbourne delivers that.

Merritt Island feels slower and more residential. There is retail along Merritt Island Causeway and North Courtenay Parkway, but the island is defined by water.
