What is the 30 day rule for new Florida residents?

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles requires a new resident to obtain a valid Florida driver license within 30 days of establishing residency in order to drive on Florida roads. Establishing residency is not the same as closing on a house. Brevard County driver license services are delivered through the Brevard County Tax Collector, which acts as an agent for the state, not through a separate state motor vehicle office. Melbourne and West Melbourne residents also have Publix based kiosks for certain renewals, though a first time Florida license is not one of them.

Do you have to retake the driving test in Florida?
