Located at the east end of Pinetree Drive, Pelican Beach Park has a nice boardwalk, restrooms, outdoor showers, a playground, picnic pavilions, and direct beach access. The waves here are reliable and the parking lot is bigger than most barrier island parks. Lifeguards are on duty in season. Easy stop for visiting family, kids, or anyone who wants beach time without driving to Cocoa Beach.

Hightower Beach Park

South of Pelican on Highway A1A, Hightower is the quieter beach park option in town. Smaller parking lot, smaller crowds, and one of the prettier dune walkovers in the area. Locals come here at sunrise. The beach itself is wide at low tide and the surf is consistent enough that you will see a handful of surfers most mornings.

David R. Schechter Community Center and Park

This is the indoor-outdoor hub of the city. The Schechter complex includes a community pool, basketball courts, tennis courts, pickleball, a fitness room, and a large playground. Great rainy-day backup, great year-round option for families, and one of the reasons people specifically buy in Satellite Beach when they have school-age kids.

Samsons Island Nature Park

This one is a underrated find. Samsons Island is a 52-acre nature preserve in the Banana River that you can only reach by boat or kayak. The city runs a free pontoon shuttle on weekends. Once on the island, you have walking trails, picnic shelters, primitive camping spots, and quiet wildlife viewing. Manatees, dolphins, and ospreys are all common sightings.

Desoto Park

A neighborhood park on Desoto Parkway with a small playground, walking path, and shade trees. Good local park for families nearby. Not a destination, but a useful daily-walk spot.

Anchorage Park

Compact park along Grant Street with green space, a small playground, and easy access for residents on the west side of the island.

Surfing in Satellite Beach

Satellite Beach is one of the best surf towns in central Florida. The breaks at Pelican, Hightower, and the Sea Park area are reliable on most swells, and the local surf culture is strong. Several pros have come out of Satellite Beach. If you are new to the area and want to learn, surf schools run lessons from Pelican Beach Park, and the smaller days here are friendly for beginners.

Paddling, Kayaking, and the Banana River

The west side of Satellite Beach sits on the Banana River, which is part of the Indian River Lagoon system. Kayak launches are scattered along the river, and Samsons Island is a popular paddle destination. The water is calm most days, dolphins and manatees are common, and you can paddle for hours without seeing a motorboat. Local outfitters in nearby Indian Harbour Beach and Cocoa Beach rent kayaks and stand-up paddleboards if you do not have your own.

Running, Walking, and Biking

The Pineda Causeway and A1A both have wide shoulders and are popular for road cycling. Inside the city, the streets are quiet enough that running is comfortable on most residential roads. The beach itself, especially at low tide, is one of the best running surfaces in the county. Many locals run from Pelican Beach Park south to Hightower and back, which is roughly a 4-mile out-and-back along firm sand.

Fishing in Satellite Beach

You can surf-fish from any beach access in town. Common catches include pompano, whiting, snook (in season), and bluefish. On the Banana River side, redfish, sea trout, and snook are the targets. The Pineda Causeway has shoreline access points that are popular with local anglers, and small boat launches give you access to the lagoon for boat-based fishing.
