River Grove on the Trail is a small newer community on Merritt Island between the Indian and Banana Rivers, off Tropical Trail near SR 520. Public record data puts the homes at 2002 and 2003, running roughly 2,300 to 3,650 square feet with four to six bedrooms. It is one of the few Merritt Island communities where the whole neighborhood is one build era rather than five decades of infill.
Everything went up in about two years. That means consistent construction standards, consistent roof age and consistent systems across the neighborhood, which is genuinely rare on this island.
The community maintains two docks with gazebos, one on the Indian River and one on a large interior community lake. That gives water access without requiring you to buy a waterfront lot.
With plans running to 3,650 square feet and six bedrooms, this is one of the places on Merritt Island where the inventory actually accommodates a large household.
River Grove has an active homeowners association with published board meetings, minutes and a resident portal, and an association fee. Get the recorded documents to confirm whether membership is mandatory.
The documented water access here is the community dock. Private individual dockage is not established for this community, so if a dock behind your own house is the requirement, verify it lot by lot.
From here Cocoa Beach runs about nine miles, I-95 about nine, Port Canaveral about ten and Melbourne Orlando International Airport about twenty-two.
